Change of editorship at Seizure, the European Journal of Epilepsy
نویسنده
چکیده
Epilepsy Action is the owner of Seizure, the European Journal of Epilepsy. It recently decided that now was the time to reinvigorate the journal. As part of this decision the charity decided not to renew the appointment of the current editors, Professor Paul Boon and Professor Albert Aldenkamp, when their second four-year term expires in February 2012. The two editors were advised of this decision nine months before the end of their contract to ensure there would be a smooth transition to the new editorial arrangements. Unfortunately they have decided not to fulfil their contractual or professional obligations to the journal and have informed us that they no longer wish to edit the journal with immediate effect. Epilepsy Action and Elsevier the publishers are disappointed by the action of Professors Boon and Aldenkamp and the impact that their unilateral decision may have on the journal and papers submitted. Epilepsy Action would like to place on record its thanks to Professors Boon and Aldenkamp for their work as Editors for the last seven and half years. In their tenure, Seizure has grown and developed. There has been an increase in the volume and quality of the material published and the Impact Factor of the journal. The charity is most appreciative of the hard work and application and skill they brought to developing the journal. A temporary editor has been appointed to maintain the quality and standards of the journal. Dr Markus Reuber, Reader and Honorary Consultant in Neurology at the University of Sheffield, UK, and Chair of the Research Committee of Epilepsy Action has kindly agreed to undertake this role. Dr Reuber has extensive experience in clinical and psychosocial epilepsy research and has published on a wide range of epilepsy-related topics. We are confident that Dr Reuber, with the support of the Editorial Board, will ensure the transition to the new permanent editorship is accomplished as smoothly as possible. The process of recruiting new editors is already underway with the objective of having these in place by February 2012, if not sooner. Individuals interested in the position can find more information about our plans for Seizure and the recruitment process at www.epilepsy.org.uk/seizureeditor. Informal enquiries can also be made to Simon Wigglesworth, [email protected] We would like to ask authors and reviewers to continue their work on any papers which have already been submitted using Elsevier’s EES system. We also welcome new submissions via the Elsevier web portal and hope that authors share our confidence in the bright and exciting future for Seizure. Please be assured that Epilepsy Action and Elsevier remain totally committed to ensuring that Seizure will publish high quality research within the field of epilepsy not just over the next few months but also in the years ahead. Please accept our thanks for your support and understanding at this time.
